I have a ~0 Baja Designs light that is 1000 lumin the CREE is noticibly brighter, but the battery doesn't last as long. I use the CREE on my handlebars as the head mount is not very functional to use on a helmet. The handlebar mount utilizes an O-ring to hold it on, so there is no left/ right adjustability for getting the light centered on the trail. I utilize with the Wide Angle Lens for 30 deg wide flood. We bike at dawn which means its completely dark when were headed back to the cars. The track is fairly hilly and only 2 bikes wide. A good light is necessary to keep things safe. The light gives excellent visibility out to maybe 75 yards. That's plenty far to feel safe going 30 mph on a gravel downhill. The beam is fairly tightly focused towards the center but with enough peripheral light to see the path in front of the tire and to the sides of the track. There are cheap but effective diffuser lenses available that widen this spot out about 3 times the normal width. I prefer to run with this mod but my friends use the standard lens. 0 The light looks great and connects easily and reliably to the bars. I've never had it slip while riding. Switch gear seems solid. It seems water proof with the prints and silicone switch cover but I've never tested. I have to say it ag ain. The brightness is really impressive. About the same a the low beams on a standard car. |
