When you ride at night you want maximum visibility. Sure, you have your headlight and flashing tail light, but are you visible from the side? CatEye's Loop Front and Rear Combo are versatile, lightweight, and visible from all directions. The light is designed with an LED bulb. It lasts 30 hours in constant mode and 50 hours flashing. It is a very lightweight 23grams (with the battery). Unlike many bike lights that attach with a clip, the Loop uses an adjustable elastic. This allows it to be placed wherever it's most needed with no hassle. It attaches to handlebars, seat posts or your pack. The CatEye Loop Front and Rear Combo included one each of white and red lights. A battery is included.Safety light design comes full circle with this pair of CatEye Loops, the latest innovation in front and rear bike illumination. Each LED light--which attaches to almost any part of your bike via the go-anywhere elastic mount--is uniquely designed to throw light in nearly all directions for added visibility. No more feeling vulnerable on city streets because your bike isn't catching the eye of passing motorists. The elastic mount, meanwhile, lets you customize your gear and quickly change configurations depending on which light orientation keeps your bike the safest. Other features include simple pushbutton operation, powerful constant and flashing modes, and front and rear styles in white and red.

- Runtime: 30 hours (constant), 50 hours (flashing)

It works well, especially because I kept losing taillights as my lock (strapped around my seat post) kept knocking them off. So this works well as it's almost flush with the frame when strapped on. The overall functionality is great and it's nice and bright. 0 One thing left me VERY frustrated with the light, however, and it almost made me throw it in trash. IT TURNS OFF AFTER 30 SECONDS! But wait ...I went online and found instructions on the manufacturer website to disable this 'feature'. It's also buried in the Amazon description above. ***"TRY ME Note: Product must be taken out of Try Me retail demonstration mode. Press and hold button until rapid flashing is observed (10 or more seconds). This mode is designed to save battery and automatically turns product off after 30 seconds. "*** Perhaps knowing this info before ordering will make your experience more positive, since you won't have to wonder if your light is defective. On one hand, it might have been printed on the cardboard package --but at the same time, why should a tiny device with one huge button require extra reading to learn how to use it? I turned it on, tore it out of the package and figured that was that. I wish they'd had this information loud and clear as I thought I had to get yet another new light ...Good luck and enjoy yours! 12 of 12 people found the following review helpful By Researcher "lohkai" (TN, USA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: CatEye Loop Front/Rear Combo (Sports) These safety lights have the most effective design I've seen in any bike lights. These aren't designed for the rider to see but for the rider to be seen, and in that arena they leave other lights in the dust. When turned on, the entire body of the light (everything except the elastic band) lights up. Facing dead on, they are very bright, but, from the side as well, they are impossible to ignore. 0 Another reviewer mentioned the front light on flash mode as being distracting or annoying to the rider, and yeah, I could see that in the first at-home test. If this was my only light, I would only use it on constant mode at night to avoid the annoyance. But I installed mine as a secondary light, my cateye headlight doing the flashing most of the time. So, this loop light I installed on the front stem, facing down. (The red, rear one I put just below the seatpost, so it peeks out just below the seatpost rack - also used as a secondary light.) O n a white bike with white tape on the handlebars, there's no mistaking what's coming down the road since the front fork and half of the frame are brightly lit and not dependent on reflections from a car's headlights. (The rear fork in the red light looks pink though.) The front light itself is still visible also, not only from the front but also from the sides and, to some extent, even from the rear when my legs aren't in the way. Yet, it's no distraction for my own eyes since I'm riding in the shadow of the stem. I sometimes take my bike on rural rides and have gotten caught in no-man's-land after sunset. Believe me, these people don't know what street lights are, and you can run across anything (including deer, possum, bobcats or snakes) on the roadway (and they're not much afraid of the only bike they've ever seen). My headlights tell me where I'm going, but these lights (front and rear) placed as they are and on constant mode for the ride tell me where I am too. I can see every crack in the asphalt. They also tell any approaching car (or tractor) exactly what they're coming up on in the remote country darkness - the last place they're expecting to see a road bike, period, let alone at night. Unless they're dead drunk, I don't have much to worry about. Instead of thinking, "What's that in the road?", they're likely thinking, "What fool's on a bike at night way out here?" And that's cool with me. Overall, these lights are really great, and I highly recommend them. They are sufficiently bright, especially head on, to serve as your only safety lights (not as headlights), and are daylight visible. They will also loop easily onto bars and posts and smaller portions of the frame. Frame too large? Then, make up the difference with a zip tie pulling the elastics tight (free tip from the make-it-work school of engineering). As for the "try me" mode fiasco others have noted, my set came with a little instruction card att ached to each light. Sure, they may take "strange" batteries, but they're so cheap that keeping a spare set in your seatpost or rack bag and rotating them out for battery changes at your leisure is quite feasible. Happy cycling. Stay safe. 9 of 9 people found the following review helpful By Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: CatEye Loop Front/Rear Combo (Sports) These lights are great. Much brighter than the Knog lights and way less expensive. One thing to note is that when you get them they may be set to "Try me" mode which will make them shut off after 30 seconds to save battery life. Here is a tutorial on how to take them off "Try me" mode: 0 "To turn "Try Me" mode off: From the OFF position, push and HOLD ON for 10 seconds the LED flashes rapidly. "Try Me" Mode is now deactivated. Please see the instruction video at: [...] |
