The headlight, in flash mode, returns light reflections off of street signs at least 150 feet away. The light is very bright and clear in color. In steady mode the headlight is more of a spot than a flood, visibility from the side is not so good. The rear light has better light projection to the side. Both use AA batteries. I'm buying it as a Christmas present for my brother-in-law, as he rides at night and got a concussion by being clipped by a hit and run a few months ago. I'm really buying it to get my own light set back... He doesn't take care of things very well. 0 I tried them out before wrapping them, and it's a sufficient amount of light to be seen by cars, but isn't completely sufficient to see the road in my opinion. My brother-in-law knows the roads that he rides, so he wont' mind. My own lights that he is borrowing is about the same, and it's sufficient for him. It is important to a purchaser to know that his light is more of a 'be seen' product. It's great at that. Plus being LED is great for battery life. I'm giving him a set of rechargeable batteries in addition to this set. REI has the same product (in their 'be seen' category) for , and the loca l bike store had it for . Amazon did my proud but selling it for , and I have Prime, so no shipping. Amazon saved me money during the Holiday Season, which is exactly why I use them. |
