This review is from: CatEye Reflex Bicycle Rear Safety Light TL-LD560-R (Sports) This light is very visible at night and is a wonderful addition when paired with a bright main light like the Portland Design Works Danger Zone Tail Light. I mount my main light relatively low down on my bike so it's visible from far away, but not annoying to other riders and drivers when riding behind me. For those reasons, you don't want to have a super-bright light on your helmet. 0 This light uses pretty modestly-powered emitters, but has a brilliant reflector design. The entire rear or the light is illuminated very evenly, a little larger than a business card's (or a little smaller than an iPhone screen's) surface area. This large patch of light, I feel, is much more effective and less distracting than a super-bright pinpoint of light, like many others in this price range. The patterns are OK in general: two "blitz" styles, solid on, blink and pulse. The last one is excellent: it oscillates between full brightness and 50% about twice a second, which provides good contrast but not too much. The blitz styles are a little over the top for my tastes, and I wouldn't want to be ride behind them. The casing is solid and does fine in the rain. The switch is very clicky and tactile, which is great for helmet mounting. You have to hold it down for a second before it comes on, which isn't my preference, but not too bad. It should also be noted that the light doesn't come with a hemet mount, but the included rear rack mount is very easily attached with nylon zip ties. (See photo) Tightened down, it's very secure. 8 of 8 people found the following review helpful Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: CatEye Reflex Bicycle Rear Safety Light TL-LD560-R (Sports) I bought this light specifically for the light patterns, (ya gotta grab the attention of all those phone loving drivers) and it doesn't disappoint. It's not quite as bright as a Blackburn Mars 4.0 or a Niterider Cherry Bomb but it's light is spread out and fills the entire unit instead of the light being condensed into a half inch area. It's suitable for dusk or night riding in an urban area. 0 And did I mention the light patterns? They are very unique and eye catching. I usually shy away from being the center of attention but when I'm on a bike I want drivers to know I'm there. Another plus is that when it's off it looks like a stock bike reflector, as long as a would be thief doesn't look at it too hard. Overall I'm very pleased with the Reflex. 5 of 5 people found the following review helpful Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: CatEye Reflex Bicycle Rear Safety Light TL-LD560-R (Sports) First of all, Amazon's Part Number is Incorrect. The real part number is: TL-LD560-R, this is 0 Cateye's part number. To verify this go to: cateye.com & click on "Saftey Lights". I bought this rear light for two reasons: 1) it has a built in (very good) reflector. 2) Cateye's quality & customer service. If you use the "long life" mode you will get up to 120 hrs. of use. If you the "flash" mode you will get about 100 hrs. of use. If you use "constant" mode you will get about 30hrs. of use. It has two other modes, which I think, will give you 60hrs of use. It does not "eat" up batteries, like some of the 1/2 watt and 1 watt lights (ie..Planet Bike & Portland Design). Of course, it is not as bright as these, but for God's sake, do you really want to "blind" cyclist's behind you, and even cars coming up on your back side ?? This Cateye Rear Light is cost effective (batteries) and it supplies more than enough light to be seen. I do recom mend this light over all others (I am 63yrs. old and have be cycling all of my life). Its a winner !!! You can go to cateye.com & click "Saftey Lights" and then you can download the manual for this, and other cateye products. |
