High quality and very bright light. Just received it, not much use but it works as advertised and is well built. Remember when parts made from machined billet aluminum were super high-tech and very expensive, having been made in some skunkworks? Now that stuff is made inexpensively in PRC and is the same quality. 0 Here's the best part (so far). I ordered this light and also the wide-dispersion lens that everyone gets, on the same order on the same day. The lens was shipped from Illinois, the light was shipped from China. Both arrived ON THE SAME DAY!! Holy smoke, that's fast service! Well under a week. Light came via DHL from China, well packed (many layers of bubble wrap around the box, inside of a DHL shipping envelope). Forget that it comes from China (seller TomTop), you'll get it fast as if it came from the next state over. Battery pack is a 4 cell 16550, wired in parallel (4.2 volts) with a sturdy cable and a de cent holster that attaches to the frame via a Velcro strap. I connected it to a hobby battery charger that I have, set it for LiPO (3.7 volt), 1s and let it go. The charge rate is internally limited to 0.7amps. The wall-wart charger that's included is rated at 1 amp (pretty beefy for a small charger) so it'll re-charge the pack as fast as it'll take current. This is a blindingly bright light- if you make the mistake of looking at the beam directly you'll be seeing spots for the rest of the day. As is, it's a spot light with a pretty narrow focused beam, not great for trail riding when you need to see the edges of the trail. Add the diffuser lens availabale from another seller here and you have a very, very solid light. High capacity battery pack that'll last, good fast charger, well made and rugged and super inexpensive for what it is. TomTop is a great seller. 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful This review is from: CREE XML XM-L T6 LED Bike Bicycle Light HeadLight HeadLamp 1200LM Red (Misc.) great bang for the buck. very bright. inconsistent quality. I have 4 of them. DON'T GET THE BATTERY PACK WET!!! you can wrap it in rubber to weather proof it. the biggest difference is in the battery pack. genuine mj 808 magic shine has better connectors and a weather proof battery 0 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: CREE XML XM-L T6 LED Bike Bicycle Light HeadLight HeadLamp 1200LM Red (Misc.) I received this light today. Came boxed with 2 O-rings (not the "improved" ones I saw on other listings), charger, battery pack, headlamp adapter, and the light (red aluminum) itself. 0 Using the smaller O-ring, it was a 5 second install to wrap it on my bike handle. I plugged in the battery pack for a little bit and tested it to make sure the light worked; it did. Four modes: high, medium, low, strobe (hold for a couple of seconds). The battery pack has been plugged for about 7 hours and still hasn't turned green, so I do not know how long it initially takes to charge. I tested the brightness on a non-lit trail, and it was excellent. The trail is paved and about 6 feet wide, and it lit the entire area in my view, and probably at least 30 feet ahead of me. It was perfect and even medium and low brightness would have been sufficient. I am glad that I chose this light over other lights that are similar in price. I read about seeing and being seen, and this definitely takes care of both! EDIT: I woke up this morning and the charger was "green" (so it took somewhere between 7-14 hours for a complete charge). I'm going to use one of the lower brightness levels to maximize the battery life since they take a while to charge. |
