3.0 out of 5 stars Not very bright, February 12, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Pros:

*I love the compact size,
* the adjuster is simple yet effective. This makes adjustment so easy
*80 hours is really good for constant light
* Only 2 batteries, this is maybe the best part
*Fairly sturdy, doesn't feel overly cheap

Cons:
Only one major con

*Not very bright

Listen, the situation you are using this for is probably going to determine if its bright enough for you. But if you ride in total or near total darkness, this definitely isn't bright enough. I bike trails at night, not up in the mountains or something but away from the streets. I should've known better. This isn't enough on its own to see very far in front of you if there aren't streetlights nearby. So if you live some place rural or you do like me, other lights should be considered. But, for being compact and taking only 2 AAA batteries, I guess what can one expect?

I ended up buying a second light t hat is half the price and considerably brighter.Admittedly it has a slightly cheaper feel, takes 3 batteries instead of 2, and lasts only 65 hours compared to 80, but the bottom line is its considerably brighter. I use them both simultaneously, and have one on each side congruent to each other like headlights. Combined I have more than enough light with both of them, haven't tried the other one alone but this one definitely wasn't enough. The cheaper brighter one, for all who are curious, is the Bell Dawn Patrol LED Headlight, also available on amazon. If you buy one of each like I did its still under so I am not complaining, but I think brightness should be taken under strong consideration in choosing a bike light.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great light but needs an engineering update, September 10, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I love the convenience of this light. It is just right for my quick commute to work every day. The only downside is that the thumb screw used to hold the device tightly to your handlebars is not "idiot proof". Mine fell off and I didn't even notice until I'm not sure how much later. Good news: the whole thing doesn't fall off your bike if that happens. I contacted Cateye and their customer service is fabulous. They bent over backwards to get me another one at no charge. Seems like they must have run into this complaint before. So - I can't give it the full 5 stars, but definitely worth the money paid.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for daily use, February 14, 2012

I cycle to work 5/7 with my morning ride in dark from Oct.-March. I've used this light in 26 degree mornings, heave rain, snow. From black, no light roads and the few no light areas on the Burke-Gilman Trail.

Cons:
ME - for leaving it on my bike while I 'took just a moment' to buy dog food. Yes it was stolen in Seattle. >>DO NOT leave on your bike!<<

Pros:
>Removable. No one is going to question what looks like the owner of a bike removing the front light so buying one of those huge 'permanent' lights will not work in the city. This light removes easy and fits in the pocket.
>Rechargeable batteries last a week with 40 minutes - 1 hour 5/7 use.
>EASY to remove batteries to recharge.
>Waterproof! Even in Seattle's constant wet to drenching showers.
>Light is very powerful (see my image comparing my old 1 LED light to the Cateye HL-EL135N)! Traffic can see me and I can see the trail when I need to WITHOUT blinding other cyclist coming towards me.
>Price! The front light has 2 purposes. To be seen by traffic and to see the road/trail. Yes you can pay a great deal more for a brighter light but why?
