We bought these mainly for safety, and it that area it excels. The front light and taillight can both be set in flashing or steady modes. I always put the rear light in rapid flash, and use the front lamp in steady mode once it gets to dusk, and in flashing mode during the day when riding on the road. There is not question that cars can see me coming; they slow down when making a left turn well before I get to the intersection. This light has been subjected to mountain bike crashes, rain, and freezing temps. Ut has help up and is still going strong after several rides on its first set of batteries. If I had to give it one complaint, it is that the light brightness is not adjustable. On real dark nights, I would prefer a little less illumination. This light is like having your brights on all the time, so I do try to aim it a little low. Great light. Perfect for stagy AND for seeing what's in front of you. 0 16 of 16 people found the following review helpful Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: CatEye HL-EL135N/Omni 3 TL-LD135 Combo (Sports) I looked at a lot of different bike lights and read a lot of different reviews. There are so many to choose from it can be overwhelming. And it seemed like you could always find lights with great reviews, yet had several other reviews that completely hated it. Confusing... What I noted though, was that the majority of negative reviews were due to the mounting system of the light, and it either falling off or coming loose. This light had all positive reviews so I decided ro give this a try... so happy I did. 0 The mounting system is where this thing really shines... well in addition to the really bright LEDs. It has this unique zip tie like system that will mount to any bike frame. No tools are required whatsoever, you simply hand turn the hardware until it's nice and tight on your bike in the desired location. It makes the lights extremely tight and secure. They won't go anywhere. I've jumped my bikes off curbs and everything else and these do n't move. Where I live it's county law to ride with lights at night, and you pretty much have to anyway because people drive insane. These lights are ultra lightweight and extremely bright. People see me clearly now, slow down, avoid me, and even give me the right away when appropriate. The headlight has a flashing and regular on mode. And the The tail light has a flashing, sporadic flashing, and on mode. You just hold the button down to turn them off. The headlight turns on with a quick button push, and you have to hold the tail light to turn it on. Both remember which mode you had it in when you turned it off, when turning it on. They also both have a quick release button on the brackets. The tail light comes with a clip so you can mount it to yourself, belt, backpack or whatever. With the quick release you can easily change batteries (haven't had to yet so can't comment on battery life), use the tail light for safety, or the headlight as a flashlight. These things are fantastic and I'm very happy with the purchase. They did everything I wanted them to and with ease, and for a great price. I would definitely recommend these to anyone. 9 of 9 people found the following review helpful Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: CatEye HL-EL135N/Omni 3 TL-LD135 Combo (Sports) First off, this is a light that is meant mainly so you will be seen and noticed by others around you. Some people like to rate lights down because of this, but I buy lights for this reason because I don't need to light up the road, I just want to let motorists know I am coming. I like to run my headlight on flashing mode to help draw more attention, and man does this thing throw off some light. I can see stop signs about a block away reflecting some of the light, thing flashes like a strobe, and with great run time. Rear light works good as well, nothing hugely standout about it. I rated this 4 stars and not 5 because of two things. #1: to turn the rear light on and off, you have to press and hold the button, and you have to press and hold the button to turn off the headlight. Takes a little getting used to, but they do remember what setting you used last. #2: the mounting brackets are a tool free kind, and I am hoping that the plastic doesn't grow wea k and brittle as time passes for me here in the desert (I always like it when I have a nut and bolt to tighten down the lights, but I guess this is the new age). All in all, I feel it was a great buy for the price. 0 |
