This review is from: CatEye HL-EL135 Headlight/TL-LD130 Tail Light Combo (Sports) I have 2 of these front lights on my bike, and a similar model of rear light. They are easy to install and they perform pretty well. 0 I decided to buy this combo pack for my girlfriend's bike, since I knew how they performed. My only complaint is that the rear light in this combo pack only has 3 LEDs, whereas mine has 5. I purchased my front and rear lights separately, so I just assumed that this rear light would be the same. My fault for not looking at the picture and reading the description closer. Not a big deal, since the light is very visible from quite a distance at night. The red plastic case on the rear light could use a little more of a reflector effect, to magnify the 3 LEDs, but that is a minor gripe. The battery life so far seems to be pretty good, and that is one of the reasons I like Cat Eye products. The really like this front light because you can slide it off of it's track and use it as a flas hlight. I do a lot of riding at night, so it helps to have a flashlight always handy for digging through my backpack or inspecting my tires. The front light is also fairly small, so you can easily just pop them into your pocket if you don't want to leave them on your bike while you go into a store or something. I believe the rear light in this kit uses a quick release system as well, so you can lock your bike unattended and take your precious gadgets with you. One thing to note: This front light is very intense as far as making you visible, and lighting up anything reflective in front of you for several blocks ahead of your path. However, unless you are in complete darkness, these lights do not really help you see much more than 50 ft in front of you. This is why I have chosen to mount 2 of these front lights on my bike, just for some extra visibility of the road ahead. If you are riding on dangerous conditions in near pitch blackness, you might be better served w ith a more powerful light. I personally supplement my 2 front Cat Eyes with a 2 LED headlamp on my helmet for those types of situations. This kit serves it's purpose well, and for the price I can recommend it to anyone looking for a quick safety upgrade for low visibility riding conditions. And always remember: no matter how many lights and reflectors you have on your bike, you are ALWAYS invisible to drivers on the road at night, because they aren't looking for you, they are looking for other cars. Be visible, but assume you are completely stealthed as far as cars go. This review is from: CatEye HL-EL135 Headlight/TL-LD130 Tail Light Combo (Sports) The top of the light lets a lot of light out which can actually be very distracting and even prevent you from seeing ahead properly. This is easily remedied with electrical type or other methods. Not sure why they designed it like that. Otherwise a great light. Perfect for campus/park paths at night. 0 *Note: When I put this in, "flash" mode it actually made 2 cars slow down and pull over. I try to avoid flash mode now. But it could come in handy... The tail light is great. People now go around me during the daytime, truly impressive! This light may save your life. Don't forget to turn both lights on during the day, especially the tail light. The set would have been 5 stars without the design flaw. But still well worth the money. 16 of 16 people found the following review helpful Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: CatEye HL-EL135 Headlight/TL-LD130 Tail Light Combo (Sports) I got these as starter lights for my road bike and they do the job. But if you want to ride a lot during nights, then pay the extra money and get the bigger lights as these are for city nights where its nice to have lights, but the street lights are bright enough to light the way and the back red light works well. 0 |
